It was produced in conjunction with the top 20 questions used for inspections designed by ECDIS Ltd and is now updated to the 2019/2020 question bank.

It ensures that the officers are:

  1. Up to date every year with any changes to the make and model of the ECDIS onboard,
  2. Understand the key functions for safe navigation,
  3. Prepared for PSC or an independent audit or inspection,
  4. Refreshed annually in their knowledge of key menus and operational capability of the ECDIS,
  5. Company compliant in ECDIS through annual assessments.

The course takes between 30 and 60 minutes on average and may require the seafarer to have direct access to their ECDIS to help answer some of the questions that they must all pass to receive their certificate.
